Pense Brothers Drilling Company was formed in 1962 by Clifford and Ronald Pense in Fredericktown, Missouri.  In the 1970's Pense Brothers expanded its operations to include exploration drilling in the oil and gas fields of the Arkoma Basin in Oklahoma and Arkansas.  During this time, Pense Brothers was one of the first drilling companies to combine air hammers and top head drive rotary rigs in the exploration for oil and gas.  This method of drilling allowed for more efficient and more cost effective drilling.  By 1988, the company moved into the coal bed methane gas (natural gas) development of the Black Warrior Basin in Alabama.  In 1990, operations expanded to drilling for coal bed methane gas in the Uinta Basin of Utah and in 1992 in the Raton Basin of Colorado and New Mexico.

Pense Brothers is among the top 20 land based drilling companies in the United States.  The headquarters are located in Fredericktown, Missouri with branch offices in Glenpool, Oklahoma; Trinidad, Colorado; and Brookwood, Alabama.  Our customers have included: Chevron/Texaco, Conoco/Phillips, El Paso, Pioneer, XTO and Southwestern Energy..
