Pense
Brothers Drilling Company was formed in 1962 by
Clifford and Ronald Pense in Fredericktown,
Missouri. In the 1970's Pense Brothers expanded
its operations to include exploration drilling
in the oil and gas fields of the Arkoma Basin in
Oklahoma and Arkansas. During this time, Pense
Brothers was one of the first drilling companies
to combine air hammers and top head drive rotary
rigs in the exploration for oil and gas. This
method of drilling allowed for more efficient
and more cost effective drilling. By 1988, the
company moved into the coal bed methane gas
(natural gas) development of the Black Warrior
Basin in Alabama. In 1990, operations expanded
to drilling for coal bed methane gas in the
Uinta Basin of Utah and in 1992 in the Raton
Basin of Colorado and New Mexico.
Pense Brothers is among the top 20 land based
drilling companies in the United States. The
headquarters are located in Fredericktown,
Missouri with branch offices in Glenpool,
Oklahoma; Trinidad, Colorado; and Brookwood,
Alabama. Our customers have included:
Chevron/Texaco, Conoco/Phillips, El Paso,
Pioneer, XTO and Southwestern Energy..
