Pense Brothers Drilling is a family owned business that has operated for over 45 years.  We have approximately 200 employees in nine states.  The work is not seasonal – it is year round. 

The most frequent position that we hire for is what is called a 3rd Helper, which is an entry level position on our drilling rigs.  Employees in these positions usually work 14 days on and then 7 days off.  The 7 days off includes the travel time home.  The shifts are 12 hours a day. 

We cover Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Virginia, West Virginia, and Utah.  Depending on the location, employees are either driven or flown to the job sites.  The job sites themselves can be very remote.  Airfare, hotel, and transportation are paid by the company.  Additionally, a daily food allowance is provided.

The nature of the work is very physical.  The company does conduct drug screenings, physicals, reference checks, and criminal checks on applicants.  Once an employee is hired, the e-verify system is used to check employment eligibility.  Applicants must have verifiable hard labor experience, be able to handle the extreme weather conditions, be able to travel, and be able to work in a “roughneck” environment.
